What each register can actually tell you

Registers differ in a way that matters more than the regulator’s reputation: some publish the specific domains a licence covers, and some do not. Where a register has no domain field, it cannot answer the question most readers are actually asking — “is this website covered?” — and no amount of searching will make it.

How to use this directory

  1. Start from the authority the site claims, not from the one you would prefer. It is usually named in the footer, the terms and conditions, or on a seal image.
  2. Check that authority actually regulates your market. A licence issued in one jurisdiction does not authorise an operator to serve consumers in another. The Gambling Commission puts this bluntly for Great Britain: a licence issued in another country does not permit an operator to provide gambling to consumers there.
  3. Open the register from this page, not from the gambling site. A link on the operator’s own site can point anywhere, including to a convincing copy.
  4. Follow the jurisdiction page for what that specific register accepts, what it returns, what its status values are and what it does not publish.

What is not in this directory, and why

This is not a list of every gambling jurisdiction in the world, and the omissions are deliberate.

  • Markets with no consumer-accessible register. If a reader cannot check anything, there is no verification procedure to document, and a page saying so at length would be filler. Several of the jurisdictions most heavily advertised by gambling sites fall into this category.
  • Authorities we could not verify from primary sources. Where an authority’s current name, powers or register could not be established from its own publications, we leave it out rather than describe it approximately.
  • Bodies that are not regulators. Trade associations, testing laboratories, certification companies and dispute-resolution providers all appear on gambling sites in licence-like language. They are covered where relevant on fake licence claims and fairness and RNG testing, not here.

Each link below goes to the issuing authority’s own website. Where a page could not be retrieved by our automated checks, that is stated rather than hidden.

  • Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario How to Look Up a Licence Status
    Visibly stale and narrower than its title suggests. It is the iAGCO Guide for Horse Racing and says nothing about internet gaming operator registrations, so it does not establish that an igaming registration can be looked up at all. Do not extrapolate it to online gambling.

  • Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario iAGCO licence search
    AGCO's own public portal, on the official iagco.agco.ca domain, but it returned only a JavaScript application shell to an automated fetch: no form fields and no results were observed. Whether internet gaming operator registrations are searchable here at all is unestablished.

    Despite its title this page holds no operator data, no search box and no last-updated date. Its only outbound link goes to iGaming Ontario's Regulated iGaming Market page, not to the filterable Operators directory, which sits a further click away.

  • Curaçao Gaming Authority CGA online certificate service (cert.cga.cw)
    An informational page with Home and Certification Policy links only. It has no lookup field of any kind: a consumer cannot type a domain here and be told who holds it. Two probes were run against this service during research and both returned the generic homepage: a ?domain= query string is ignored, and the certificate endpoint called with a placeholder token does not resolve to a lookup. Curaçao therefore publishes no consumer-facing page where a domain can be checked — the only available check is clicking the seal on the gambling site itself and reading the address bar of the page it opens.

  • Curaçao Gaming Authority Curaçao Gaming Authority — Online Gaming License Registry (PDF)
    28 pages, 663 numbered rows. Its columns are licence number, licensee, company type, company registration number, issued, expires and status licence — there is no domain or website column, confirmed by full-text search in two independent passes. The status column is free text rather than a controlled vocabulary, and the extracted column alignment is unreliable, so no individual operator's status should be read from it. The filename encodes the publication date, so this URL changes at each update: link the register landing page for a durable link.

  • Curaçao Gaming Authority Domain Management for Licensed Operators, version 1.3 (24 March 2026)
    The document that explains how Curaçao ties a licence to a domain: DNS TXT verification, the opaque per-domain token behind the certificate URL, the four licence statuses with their colours, and the two seal integration options. Two sentences matter most to a consumer: 'A verified domain does not imply that the site has been approved', and, of the direct-image integration, 'The website owner/operator controls the click behaviour' — so a seal that looks right can link anywhere, and the address bar is what settles it. The fetch tool reported the content as images; the text was extracted locally and the embedded screenshots of the certificate layout could not be read.

    Fetched in the independent verification pass, closing a gap the first pass left open. Columns are licensee number, licensee, casino operator, hotel name, casino name, issued, expires and status, and status values include 'Assessment in progress'. Licence numbers use a different scheme from the online register. It contains no domain column either — the no-domain finding holds across all four published register files. Dated filename.

  • Curaçao Gaming Authority License register — Curaçao Gaming Authority
    The whole register is four downloadable PDFs: there is no search box, no filter, no dropdown and no query string. The page carries the regulator's own disclaimer that the overviews 'do not guarantee the current validity of the licenses' and that 'no rights can be derived from these overviews'. The URL slug is an opaque CMS identifier and is the only route the site's own navigation offers.

    12 rows, with the purposes in use being 'Test Labs' and 'Alternative Dispute Resolution' — this is the list a player uses to check that an ADR body an operator points them to is actually CGA-certified. Column alignment is badly skewed in extraction, so purposes and dates cannot be reliably matched to individual holders, and the file contains at least one typographical error. Dated filename, so the URL changes at each update.

    The search field is labelled 'Search by business name, trading name, domain name or account number', so domain search is officially supported. Two caveats the register states or demonstrates itself: 'Domain names and trading names are provided by the gambling business' — the domain list is self-reported, not compiled by the regulator — and no Commission page defines what the status values (Active, Expired, Forfeited, Lapsed, Pending, Revoked, Surrendered, Suspended) actually mean. The search is form-driven: there is no link that runs it for you.

    The primary consumer tool, and the only place the GSC publishes website domains alongside licensees. It has no search, no filter and no working query-string deep link: a test query string was fetched and returned the full unfiltered list. Domains are listed only where a licence holder is actively offering services to the public, so a missing domain proves nothing. A site defect worth knowing: the per-supplier Software List links are titled Approved Software Register but point to an August 2025 copy of this same licence-holder register.

Licence numbers and brand names appear only inside each row's linked Approved Brands PDF, most of which print a Content as from date that is the best currency signal available.

    OpenOverGokken states it is an initiative of the Kansspelautoriteit; its footer carries a 2025 copyright line and the register shows no last-updated stamp. A plain fetch does return a server-rendered listing, but search, filtering and paging need JavaScript, and no query-string search parameter works — four were tested and every one returned the unfiltered list. The host also serves an incomplete TLS certificate chain, so some automated clients fail to verify it while browsers and curl do not.

    Opens only with an internal 32-hex company GUID, which is why it is documented here rather than offered as a lookup. It carries Malta's strongest anti-spoofing instruction: make sure the address of the site you land on starts with https://authorisation.mga.org.mt. The field labels recorded from it are indicative, not exhaustive — an independent re-fetch saw labels the first pass missed and did not see one it listed.

Driven in a browser it offers exactly three fields — Licensee Name, Authorisation Status and Gaming Service — and displayed 'Last Updated: 18/09/2026 13:43', which is a data-refresh time, not a content-review date. The structural trap: Authorisation Status is a filter only and is not shown in the result cards, so a consumer who searches by name sees no licence status until they open the record's dynamic seal.

Two limitations to pass on: it prints 'URL not found in Licensee database.' even when it has matching records to list underneath, so reading only the first line produces false negatives; and it has no query string, so there is no deep link — it must be described as an interactive form.

    This is where licence type and validity dates actually surface, but it fails unsafely: a domain that is in the register returns a detail view, while a domain that is not returns an HTTP 500 error page rather than a clean negative. Use the register's own search for a reliable no-match answer. Validity is usually a closed date range, but an entry may show an open-ended range with no end date.

  • Spillemyndigheden Licensed gambling operators — the Danish register of licence holders
    The page carries an explicit last-updated stamp, but the list body is drawn by JavaScript and does not appear in a plain fetch — a reader using a text browser or a strict content blocker may see an empty list and wrongly conclude an operator is absent. The list excludes slot-machine licence holders and licensed game suppliers, which are published separately. There is no working search or filter link: three query-string patterns were tested and all failed, and the search box on the page is the site-wide site search. Individual entries do show the domains covered by a licence, but the entry addresses are not uniformly reliable — one returned an HTTP 500 error.
